Cage accessories and other essentials
Savic Bottle Brush

A very clever bottle brush - I bought one of these and was so impressed that I decided to stock them on the site.  The end of the bottle brush also has bristles that cover the very end - so that it gets the whole bottle clean - but the really clever part is in the handle - a mini bottle brush that will also clean the metal end that your rat drinks from - brilliant!

All this for only £2.20
Finger groomer

What better way to relax with your rat than with a Finger Groomer - one of Acrorats fastest sellers!

The Jungle Talk "Hide a Treat" is a toy designed to keep caged birds entertained - well they work brilliantly for rats too!!

The top slides up the 17cm chain to allow you to fill the 3 "secret" compartments with treats.  Your rats then have to work out how to get them back out - you are able to make this treat-reward game as challenging or as simple as you want to.

The Magical Ratty Tardis

This is aptly named the tardis as although it does not look huge from the outside - there is often over 3kg of rats in mine at any one time.

Let your rats fill it with shredded paper or cage litter - they all pile in and have their own escape routes too!

Made of plastic this house is ideally situated under shelves - the top point is rounded off.

18cm diameter and 24cm high (approx)

Foot Warmer - I mean the giant snuggle rat warmer

You may wonder why there is a picture of my Mum modelling a giant snuggle rat warmer .... well, it also doubles as a granny foot warmer (ducks before Mum hits me).

This is a huge delightfully fleecy snuggle area for your rats either at the bottom of a large cage or aviary or an ideal area to have on your bed/sofa when your rats are free ranging so they are less likely to chew your cushions/duvet cover!

Now - maybe not what you expected to see at the bottom of the page - but please read on .....

I have put this particular rat cage trap on this site as it came to me recommended by a rat keeper, who lives in the countryside and has wild rats "visit" her garden.  She carefully chose a trap that did not have a spring loaded door (which could easily cause harm) and also offers some shelter by having a solid metal roof.  This trap is ideal for removing unwanted wild rats, which can easily be caught and released a few miles from your home.  Please remember - do not handle wild rats - and ensure you take care to wash your hands properly after touching the trap outside.  It is also important that you do check the baited trap frequently, otherwise the humane trap you just bought would hold the rat with no food or water and cause the entrapped animal suffering and possible death.

Alternatively I would feel comfortable using this trap for  capturing any of my rats if they had escaped and I could not get them to come out again.

The next time you hear from a non-ratty person that they have got rats in their garden and need to call out the pest controller - you can tell them where to buy a humane trap from - maybe it will save them putting poison down.

Here you can see my Mum sharing her "foot warmer" with Boo - luckily in no time at all Boo's tickly feet were too much for Mum who reluctantly went off to find her slippers instead.

Snugglesafe Pet Towel

From the makers of the fantastic Snugglesafe Microwave heatpad - this innovative towel is fantastic for drying your pets with more success than using an ordinary towel.

I had the misfortune to have to bathe a syringe-fed chinchilla last week and this towel was brilliant at getting the job done - I hardly had to use the hair drier at all - so you can imagine how good it will be for your ratties can't you!

FED UP OF FLIES?????

There are a lot of reasons why flies come into your house - but you don't need to put up with them.  Instead of poisoning your animals with fly sprays why not use either of these clever products.  Better still - use netting on your windows to keep them out in the first place.

Here are 2 tried and tested products to zap those flies! (and mosquitoes etc)

Insect Killer

Cool-blue design fits in with contemporary home styling for kitchens and conservatories.
Fully tested to UK and European standards

6 Watt uv lamp attracts flies, moths, mosquitoes and midges into a 1,000 volt kill-grid, destroying them quickly and hygienically.  Removable base tray collects dead insects and also enables supplemental baiting for daytime use.

The Tumble 'n' Treat is a fun toy for your rats to roll about the cage.

We do not normally sell these type of roll around/bounce back toys as rats often ignore them knowing that you will empty the treats out for them later anyway - but this particular toy comes well recommended.

Massive 22 kg Bale of Shredded carboard cage litter

One of the best products you can use at the bottom of your cage - your rats will be able to play with the cardboard, you can hide treats in the there and most importantly it is brilliant at keeping down the smell of the rats.

Fantastic value - can you imagine how much longer than cat litter this bale will last you - extremely effective too!

This carrier is fantastic - personally recommended and also recommended by the RAC to be used in the car.

I thought that the Superpet carriers would always be my favourite - but my rats thought differently  ...

Here is the new carrier - they come in a variety of colours and have many uses.

Firstly you can transport your rats about - that one is a bit obvious.

Secondly you can use it as a hosptial "incubator" with a heat mat (sold separately) underneath - or alternatively with a snugglesafe inside (yes it is big enough).  I used it for my Lily, who sadly passed away after falling into a diabetic coma - this set-up allowed us to give her heat and security while we waited to get to the vets and then to be seen by him.

Thirdly you can use it as a play area - see how the rats played in it - it was hilarious!

The Bug Zappa!

I almost gave myself tennis elbow with this Bug Zappa - you just need to put 2 AA batteries into the handle and you have a bug electrocution device that puts the fun into keeping a clean house with no flies.  I have had great success with this "bat" with both big fat flies and tiny little fruit flies.  Not great to go round killing things, but then again nor is having flystrike on a pet.

Savic Circus

No need to send in the clowns to keep your ratties happy - just pop in a Savic Circus or 2.  Especially for your rats, this plastic home is fantastic in every way, from the large doorways (3 in total) to the easy to clean design right down to the ratty footprints all over the top of it!
