Following the illness and subsequent death of of my soul mate and partner "Ratty" Bob on the 3rd of June, Acrorats has remained closed.
I am pleased to say that I will be reopening the store in August 2009 and am working on finishing the web revamp that Bob and I had wanted to do before he was taken ill.
Rest In Peace Bob, and don't worry - Acrorats will return just as we both wanted!

While we had a break we decided to completely revamp the website and bring you lots of new and exciting products, including Acrorats famous hand-made items in a completely new style, along with "off-the-shelf" products to increase our range. There will also be new products that you will not have seen anywhere else - how exciting is that!
The new site alterations should make life easier to find everything you want and so much more!
The site should be up and running within the next 4 weeks - if there is anything you would like before then you can email me at acrorats@gmail.com with your shopping list and I will invoice you and ship out your order.

Further to the news page that was here a few weeks ago we have had to take a long hard look at how best to service our customers.
I have copied the earlier news below for anyone not aware of the situation. You will see that we wrote that we were not closing down - and that we were busier than ever - that is still true. However - with the full time care of Bob and other family committments, it is just not practical to keep the business running while so much time is taken up leaving so little to look after you, our customers.
It is with great regret and a heavy heart that we have to close the website for a few months. It took a lot of soul searching but we decided that as we can not give the service that we want you to have, it would be better for us to close the site, spend time together as a family and re-open again in a few months when we will have recharged batteries and we have more time for you.
Any orders placed on the site WILL be despatched ASAP, new orders will not be taken. We will be here if you have any queries or require rat health information. You will most likely have to leave a message on the phone.
All items on the site will be available for sale at the following rat shows:

MRC show - Brigstock, Northants - 6 December
If there is anything in particular that you want me to bring to either of those shows then please ring me (Jules).

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank people from the bottom of our hearts for the kindness, patience and emotional support offered to our family since this all started in August. Without the kind thoughts, words and commitment from our friends and customers we would have fallen to pieces weeks ago - thank you xx

Acrorats is a family run business and is mainly organised/administered by me (Jules) and my partner Bob (Ratty Bob on many rat forums).
I am the person who sews and does most of the administration, along with all of the packing and despatch and all the website work - which leaves Bob with day to day sourcing of new products, new suggestions of products and ideas and invaluable help in the redesign of the website (in other words he tells me when I have got it all wrong lol).
In August we were given some bad news that Bob has a brain tumour and it has taken some time to get results back etc. We have been given a prognosis and sadly does not mean that Bob and I are now going to get married and ride off into the sunset on our trusty steeds (makes mental note to trade in horses for something more comfortable).
We have decided to go on holiday for a week and a bit, and for the first time since Acrorats opened in 2002 will NOT be here to answer your calls/queries or despatch orders from Thursday 30th October until our return on Monday 10th November.
Acrorats is not closing down, far from it - we are as busy as ever, still attending shows and still here - we are however taking a little longer to get your orders out to you. If you require anything urgently outside of the times of our holiday - please ring and unless you speak to us then we may not realise the urgency.
We have lots of new products for the Christmas pages and these will be launched upon our return in a short while.
We hope that having read this you still decide to shop with Acrorats - the home of the rat hammock and longest established on-line retailer dedicated to the love of rats.
